Our 3rd Annual Bookbag Giveaway in Charlotte was a positive impact. We had the pleasure of partnering with Charlotte’s Bahai Center In the historical Grier Heights community for a second time. This day was filled with our core values of Unity, Community, You and Me! To help us in our efforts to paying it forward. We were joined by Charlotte’s Activity Author, Sheryl Smiley-Oliphant, Project Outpour and University Soup Kitchen. While we gave out bookbags filled with school supplies, Sheryl engaged the children with live story telling and crafts. Project Outpour provided free toiletry and personal hygiene items and University Soup Kitchen prepared and served a hot meal to the community and made sure each family there walked away with a bag of groceries to take home. We truly appreciate the support we received from all the local business and organizations. Special thanks to Grier Heights Community and Charlotte Bahai Community for having us!

As a community the Uncle Sonny Initiative 501c3 actively supports Mental Health Awareness. We are Ambassadors for Mental Health Americas of Central Carolinas and build partnerships with local businesses and organizations that help support our mission. During the month of May we hold our annual Mental Health Awareness Month fundraiser where part of our proceeds are donated to MHA of Central Carolinas. As part of our annual community service we host two back to school book bag give aways and participate in a Mental Health Awareness walk.
